MV Amalia Arrives in Menominee on Sept. 15

The Amalia arrived in Menominee, passing Menominee North Pier Lighthouse around 2:45 PM CDT. They are here to load wood pulp at KK Integrated Logistics. The ship was escorted into port by the Menominee County Sheriff Dept. Marine Patrol vessel, which was on hand to keep small craft out of harm's way - GREAT Job guys!! After passing through the Ogden Street (Menekaunee) Bridge, the ship headed up the Menominee River to the turning basin (east of KK Integrated Logistics). After turning the vessel around, they headed back down the Menominee River to the KK East Dock. Once they were tied up, hatch covers were removed and loading began. Trucks moved bales of pulp out to the dock where two cranes with special loading attachments lifted the bales from the truck and lowered them into the holds of the waiting ship.
