Photos of 4 ships at Bay Shipbuilding: 3 are in for repairs, and one is about to have its career resurrected. The three ships that are in for repairs are the ASC (American Steamship Company) fleetmates John J. Boland and St. Clair, and Lower Lakes Transportation Co.'s barge, McKee Sons. However, the one that I went to see today was the one about to re-start its career, another fleetmate of the John J. Boland and St. Clair, the American Courage, which has been in lay-up status at Bay Shipbuilding since late 2009. The American Courage, resplendent in its new black & white paint job (the colors of its owner, ASC) was towed from Bay Shipbuilding's large graving dock before I arrived, and was already tied up alongside the graving dock. I did, however, get a bonus today; when I arrived, the tug, Bay Ship, along with the Selvick Marine Towing Corp. tugs, William C. Selvick, Jacquelyn Nicole and Cameron O, were in the process of moving the McKee Sons into the large graving dock. The photos in this slideshow will show some of the action with the McKee Sons, along with the other vessels at Bay Shipbuilding. In addition to the 4 vessels already mentioned, there were two other vessel at the shipbuilding/ship repair facility: the tug, Invincible, which pushes the barge, McKee Sons, and another barge, A-390. One vessel that I expected to see there today, but did not, was the tug, Barbara Andrie, which is usually paired with the barge, A-390.
