Comments:What a fantastic job you have done chronicaling the building of the New Interstate Bridge connecting Marinette, WI and Menominee, MI. It was very interesting to see all the photos of what was really happening beyond those barricades we have been driving around for over a year in the Twin Cities. Awesome job, and many thanks. Also, I was so happy to see your photos from the open house on Dec. 7, 2005 of both the old Mackinaw, and it's replacement, the New Mackinaw. I was able to take the tour with my fiance, but unfortnately didn't bring my camera on board the new ship. So it was great to be able to see photos posted on your site of the ship just like I remembered it. Great for future years to look back at. Keep up the great work

Comments:One really has to laugh looking at what they are going to cut the ribbon with for the Grand Opening of the Bridge, all that money spent replacing the bridge and they use a $20.00 pair of garden shears and a can of gold spray paint, they could not afford to spend a hundred or so dollars on a nice pair of Ceremonial Scissors? And then mount them on a plaque?

I was make aware of the website by Tom Johnson of Las Vegas, whom I think is a relative of yours? Thanks so much for posting these photos of the bridge construction. It was not only very interesting but brought back fond memories of "snake dances" over the bridge during "M & M" weekend, walking around "The Loop" and similar stuff. The final photo showing traffic moving across the bridge on a snowy, wintry early evening made me feel so nostalgic I am using it as my computer desk top background. Thanks again, Kent Anderson

You sure have captured it all very well. I had hoped it would never end as I always enjoyed a viewing images from my hometown. Reading through your page I read where you had told of the many visiters you have had since 1 Nov 2004, it has always amazed me how many people surfed the web, my little WinXP webserver gets an average of 2300 hits every week, mostly because of the funny video files that I have on my home webserver. I would like to put a link to you from a new page I'm working on that is not uploaded yet. The page will be grandquest.org/wi/shipping. Nice work here. You are an inspiration! Nice to see people give their passions onto others. Thanks for a great site. Scott

Comments:I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and I lived there until I was 19 yrs old (returning for another 5 years in my late 20s, before moving to Southern Ontario. I've really enjoyed your website and the photos (so many of them familiar sights). As a kid in the 60s we would listen to the sounds of the ships at night signalling each other on the St. Mary's channel and the lock master with long and short blasts from the ship's horns. We knew the codes. Sadly, those sounds are uncommon these days and the number of ships has declined with the advent of the 1000' freighters. In my day, the 200'-700' freighters were more typical and at almost any given time of the day you'd spot 3 freighters on the river. Still the Soo it is rare and wonderful place and I go back as often as possible. Thanks for the fascinating webpage!

Comments:Nice job, Dick! Very impressive.. your camera does a great job. I owned a Sony Mavica for awhile, and recently bought another Sony (Cybershot). Check our website, you'll see some pix I shot with it. Always good to see you at Burger King! Judging by your website (and who I know you are), you're building quite a legacy through pictures and service to the young people of our community.. (old folks like me, too..) All the best, -Joe B.
