Donner is docked at Marinette Fuel & Dock Co. across the river and is used as a craneship to unload ships calling there) Vancouverborg - Arrived in the bay of Green Bay off Menominee on May 31 with a load of wood pulp for KK Integrated Logistics; however, with the low water levels, it was not able to enter the Menominee River and anchored about a mile offshore. It would appear that, unless the river raises overnight, they will need to bring a barge out to the ship and offload part of its cargo ("lighter") out in the bay. This was last done in Dec. 2004 when the Varnebank needed to be "lightered" out in the bay before entering port.
Vancouverborg - After laying at anchor in the bay last night, they lightered it early today (June 1) but had to wait until early afternoon to make it into the river and to its dock because of heavy fog Vancouverborg - Secure at the KK Integrated Logistics East Dock and ready to begin unloading Vancouverborg - Stern view from down-river
Vancouverborg - Each shoreside crane grabs a bale of pulp from the holds of the ship Vancouverborg - When the ship departed on June 2 they needed a tug to assist in turning it around in the Menominee River turning basin. I had set my camera to "sequential shot" mode to get a series of shots of the launch; but, when they moved the launch back 15 minutes, I turned off the camera to save the battery. It wasn't until I got home and found that I only had this photo on the camera that it dawned on me that when I turned off the camera it defaulted to its "normal" settings (NO sequential shots)!! GRRRR! Anyway, to see what this launch would have looked like, here is a Link to the launch of its "Sister-tug" Brandywine last year. Sorry about that! Dongeborg - Another view - the water level is too low for the ship to enter port, so a barge will need to be brought out to the ship so that enough wood pulp can be removed to raise the ship enough to make port Dongeborg - KK Integrated Logistics' ex-railroad carfloat, Manitowoc, was towed out to the ship's position early Friday morning (Nov. 30) Dongeborg - The Selvick tugs, Jimmy L and William C. Selvick, are on hand as a bale of wood pulp is lifted from the holds of the ship Dongeborg - The bale is lowered to the barge. Reserve towed from Menominee to Sturgeon Bay, WI on Dec. 17. The Reserve was towed from its berth at KK Integrated Logistics today. The Selvick tugs, Jimmy L and William C. Selvick, took charge of the tow around 10 a.m. The tugs towed the Reserve through the Ogden Street Bridge and out to the bay of Green Bay where the barge was turned around and the tow headed for Sturgeon Bay. Once there, the Reserve will be placed in the graving dock (dry-dock) at Bay Shipbuilding where the propeller and the remainder of the stern will be removed and the "notch" for the tug will be completed.
