Loading & Unloading At KK Integrated Logistics On Dec. 26

Unloading of wind turbine tower sections from the barge, Lake Trader, began early Sunday morning. The large tug, Mary E. Hannah was assisting the unloading of the barge by pinning it to the dock as unloading of the tower sections was on-going. The tower sections were being unloaded from the dockside side of the barge, and it could have become unbalanced, and thus unstable, without the help of the tug. Later in the afternoon, the barge was turned end-for-end by the tugs. Unloading was then resumed.

As that was happening, the barge, Pere Marquette 41, began loading the large rocks for the project on lower Lake Michigan. The rocks they were loading were of the smaller variety, but still run several tons each! By late afternoon, the barge was heavily loaded; but loading continued as the sun dropped behind the tree-line.
