A Busy Day In Menominee And Marinette On June 29!

Wednesday morning began with a bang with two ships waiting to enter port around sun-up, and a third vessel on its way here. First up was the BBC Arizona. After waiting out in the bay for nearly 20 hours, the ship finally entered port with its load of wind turbine tower sections destined for KK Integrated Logistics. The ship entered port stern-first, as usual, under control of the Selvick tugs, Jimmy L and William C. Selvick. Once the ship was in port, the Algoway came in with its load of salt for Marinette Fuel & Dock. This was the dock's second load of salt for the 2011-2012 shipping season. Several hours after the Algoway arrived, their fleetmate, Algoma Transfer, arrived and went to anchor out in the bay of Green Bay waiting for the Algoway to unload. After a 5-hour unload, the Algoway was empty and backed out of the Menominee River before turning around out in the bay and heading for its next port of call. As they were departing, the Algoma Transfer headed in to take their place at the same dock vacated by the Algoway. Marinette Fuel & Dock's third load of salt was unloaded by the ship in just about 4 hours. Then, just as the Algoway did several hours before, the ship backed out of the river, turned around out in the bay, and departed. What a day!!
