Tugs, Buckley and Zeus, Depart KK Integrated Logistics With Loaded Rock Barges On Sept. 9

On Friday morning, shortly after 7 a.m., the tug, Zeus, and its two loaded rock barges were ready to depart KK Integrated Logistics. The tug, Buckley, led the small flotilla down the Menominee River, through the Ogden Street (Menekaunee) Bridge, and out past Menominee North Pier Lighthouse. Once there, the tug, Zeus, which had been pushing the two barges, dropped their towlines from the barges and backed around to the lead barge in order to take them in tow for their trip down Lake Michigan. Since Lake Michigan has encountered a lot of "heavy seas" in the past week-or-so, the tug Zeus was brought in to take this tow down the lake, as they are larger and more powerful than the smaller Buckley. The rocks are once again headed for a large marina project in Chicago, Illinois.
