More From KK Integrated Logistics On June 18

I went back to KK Integrated Logistics in hope of getting some "more detailed" photos. I found out that the rail cars are "articulated" cars matched in pairs; only every other car has a standard coupler. The cars are owned by many of the nation's leading railroads as part of a rail carpool that is managed by TTX Company. Each car has a colored "dot" on its bulkhead; the color of the dot tells which tower section fits on that car. A white dot means a top section, a yellow dot means the car is designed for an mid-upper section, and a red dot means that a mid-lower section fits. I was able to get closer to the action today, and you will see how the bolts that hold the sections to the rail cars are lined up and driven home; this takes incredible handling by the crane operators. Imagine trying to lower a tower section onto a railcar so that it fits between two bulkhead with just enough room between them for that tower section ... tricky, right? Now, try lowering that section onto that same rail car so that it lines up with 4 bolt holes approximately 2-inches in diameter each! Not quite so easy, is it? I hope you enjoy these new, more detailed photos!
